The SNMREC Preferred Partner Program is an opportunity for our industry partners to collaborate more fully with the Center. This program is designed to dedicate SNMREC experts and resources to individual industry partner development needs.
Assets & Tools
Because the SNMREC is managed by Florida Atlantic University, the university’s assets are available to be applied to ocean energy research and testing. The great diversity available includes not only access to state-of-the-art facilities, laboratories, vessels, instruments, and sensors, but most importantly, expertise which has been established over the university’s 50+ years of existence, and which continues to be enhanced as the Center moves forward, addressing key needs of the growing ocean energy industry.
The Center maintains a strong presence at three of the university’s seven campuses, each uniquely available to provide access to resources and expertise. Engineering work is conducted primarily at the Dania Beach (Institute for Ocean Systems – SeaTech) and Ft. Pierce (Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute – HBOI) campuses, while the administrative and managerial staff is located on the main university campus, in Boca Raton, Florida. SNMREC also maintains two vessels exclusively for ocean measurement and offshore deployments, the R/V Ocean Power and R/V Lee at the Dania Beach, Florida location. Much of the instrumentation and sensor storage, maintenance, and mission preparation are at the Dania Beach campus, while fabrication, construction and large-scale testing are conducted at HBOI. Areas of expertise include access to the university’s Colleges and Departments, which boast specializations in a diverse spectrum of science, engineering, education, and economics. In addition, SNMREC engineering and research staff are developing unique expertise as they pioneer development in this growing industry.
