The SNMREC Preferred Partner Program is an opportunity for our industry partners to collaborate more fully with the Center. This program is designed to dedicate SNMREC experts and resources to individual industry partner development needs.
SNMREC Contributions
Since the ocean energy industry is so young, many different areas need development to responsibly and quickly advance to commercialization. FAU’s Southeast National Marine Renewable Energy Center (SNMREC) is leveraging public and private funds to address as many of these areas as possible. To make some sense of the challenges that remain and to address them systematically, the SNMREC has organized its contributions into focus areas:
- Education and Outreach
- Technology Development
- Resource Measurement and Modeling
- Environmental Assessment
- Technology Testing
- Regulatory Framework
These areas are inter-related and stem from servicing the three major aspects of ocean energy projects: the public, technology, and the environment. The SNMREC is pursuing the focus areas through research and active development programs which will deliver tangible solutions, methods, and information for the industry to use.
